Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir Batin dari #TravelholicAwesome

"Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir Batin dari #TravelholicAwesome"

Slalunya I akan buat Hari Raya Open House macam Open House - PeStA Baju Raya 2009 dengan Palmiera Cacatoos Open House 2012 tapi tahun ni sebab alasan tertentu (sofa buruk and tak sempat pasang wallpaper), kitorang terus plan untuk join bebudak #TravelholicAwesome buat Picnic Raya kat sebuah taman yang saaaaaaaaaaangat cantik yang hanya Janggel je tau tempatnya. Hahaha!

Mula-mula agak tak paham sebab konsepnya ala English (siap teko and saprah) tapi kena pakai baju raya. Lagi tak bleh blah, semua hentam makan nasik lemak sebab lapar yakmat! Hahaha! Picnic Raya ni jugak merangkap acara sesi video/photo shooting untuk pasangan yang berdarah manis yang bakal kawin tak lama lagi, yakni Dan Arif and Maszuber. Cantik kad diorang, macam tiket flight kelas ekonomi kata Chawanna. Hahaha!

Nantikan gambar-gambar behind the scene okeh! Thanks to:

Hahaha!

Ye, SEMUA orang jadi photographer and videographer utk sesi ni. #Untungla sangat kan?! Rasa macam nak buat lagi :)

Macam biasa, mula-mula gambar baik la kan...

Patu masing-masing tunjuk skill! Hahaha!

Note : Few of us didn't make it for this group photo. Credit pics to Kak Anash.

Palmiera Cacatoos Open House 2012

5 years of marriage, I held 4 times of Raya open house. 3 times were held back in 2008, 2009, and 2010 at my previous house, Casa Natura. I then, moved to Palmiera Cacatoos and skipped organizing it in 2011 due to house break in (no mood) but I gained back the spirit this year, and had a super blast gathering with #TravelholicAwesome, friends, and neighbors.

Like previous years, I created theme and lucky draw. This year, I forced every guest to wear "jubah", since the theme was "Untunglah Beraya ala Fadang Fasir". Clearly #TravelholicAwesome got "mandrem" by the idea and they came in fabulous attire. Except for Mr. President, who came in full set of buttoned-up "baju melayu" with "sampin". Well, he's special. Anyway, Byya won the "best dress", for she came in "jubah", complete with black eyeliner, dangling earrings, heels, and bangles!
I usually ordered all foods but this year, I dipped in my two hands, preparing two dishes, "sambal sotong" and "sambal udang". Hubby did contribute his skill by mixing two type of drinks, ribena and soda. Accompanied by "nasi lemak", bread pudding, caramel, "roti jala", chicken curry, and jelly. (If you want to try Kak Eran's bread pudding, "roti jala", and muffin, feel free to drop me an email. I've ordered for the past 4 years.) On top of these foods, Chawanna being a sport by bringing her home-made chocolate cake, sprinkled with colorful love chips. IN A BOX! Yummeh!
I summoned 50 guests and prepared food for 80 pax, but some of them didn't turn up due to own reasons. While some of my colleague who've clicked "going" in FB-invite showed no face, I know that 2 of #TravelholicAwesome had better excuses. Janggel still in Japan while Lily had "kuliah". And yet, Janggel got so lucky to win himself a luggage tag, in lucky draw session! Haha!
Right after all neighbors went back to their home, we had photo sessions by the garden lamp and rows of "pelita raya". The main highlight was the 10 years "paddle cactus", that has yet to receive another highlight of Palmiera Cacatoos, a palm tree. Ah, can't wait!
We then had a lucky draw session, where Chawan won himself a grand prize, Quick Basic Language of Spanish CDs for Traveler. (Aqilah was more than happy to grab the box from John and bragged it around the house.) John's name was picked as the second lucky person, a special book called 80 Places That You DON'T Want To Visit. Meanwhile, Kak Anash got herself a frame, Masnona and Janggel got each of them a luggage tag, and Hasrul and Byya got each of them a series of cute panda and sheep paper clips, with travel memo notes.
Trust me, Fatt is one beautiful girl with silky soft shiny face. I feel like marrying her!
(Only if I can remove the blanko!)

MasZuber and Dan Arif had to go back early (since they came early while I am not yet ready), while the rest, delayed their departure, from 3am to 5am to after "subuh" to breakfast! (Million thanks to Na who washed the dishes.) I AM SO LOVING THEM TO THE BONES! Why? Coz they didn't complaint at all, that they had a sleepover at my house, on the floor! I have two guest rooms, but they were nice enough to have a "jubah party" at the hall. Except, again, Mr. President who finally went up and slept on the bed. Son of a king, he said. Haha!

We had the same food for breakfast, and all of them went out from my crib, with a smiley face. Not only them, I guess, all guests had the same face, when they went back home last night. I do hope that we did good, in serving the food, entertaining the guest, decorating the scene, and wish that each and everyone who came, felt welcome and satisfied.
Next year? BRING IT ON, BABY!

P/S: Credits to Chawan and Anash for the pictures. Chawan has done a very superb job! Tx bro! (I remember once, he used to call me sis...hahaha!)

MasyaAllah, kuat berjalan orangnya. Tak tercapai dek akal nak mengikut, apatah lagi meniru gayanya.

Cik Rodiah suka! Cute je mukanya. Anak ikan Cik Rodiah, hasilnya.

Mampos pengsan dia nanti nak tahan bebel Cik Puan tu. Itupun, kalau jadi lah. Hamboi baik sungguh kalo dibuat menantu budak ni. Pegi berjalan pun masih disarung baju kerja.

Tak sempat lagi nak bertemu Mutalib@Ghafur. Allahhhhhhhhh salam cium tangan Cik Puan Lela Manja dengar-dengarnya. Tah bila la dapat ketemu. Nak jugak tepuk-tepuk bahu dia suruh belajar dulu sampai abis.

Sepantas cahaya, Rofe'ah Kutip Pungut masuk cerita. Tapi Cik Rodiah masih tak jumpa-jumpa dia lagi. Kalo part merapu, laju aje jawapnya.

Cik MusalmahJenab? Memang begitu namanya, sebab orang keliru dengan Aloyah. Kejap timbul, kejap tenggelam.

:) Apa kata sedara sedari semua? :D

Sistas Potluck

Every year, we (Sistas) will organize our yearly Sistas Potluck. But this year, Elly, Skin, Fara, and Enda didn't join us. Dib, the expecting mother, offered her house as the venue. (Next year, kita serang umah baru Skin ok?)

These were the foods for the night.

Dib made two super delicious chickens that can keep Kenny Rogers away from us. I mean, OMG, sedap nak mampos! The marinade was PERFECT!
Deb ordered two large Pizza. Answered to my hubby's long lost request. Hahaha! And Nanzo, Deb's hubby has created new drink, a mixture of orange Twister and strawberry Mirinda. Yummeh!

And I, ordered one large bread pudding from Kak Eran, as usual. Sedap! But too bad, I'm not a fan.

Buka Puasa @ Kenny Rogers, Nando's, And Pizza San Francissco

We hardly went to Param (Pasar Ramadhan) coz most of the food tak sedap! Unless, Param at our hometown. Sumpah best! 3 days out of 17 days of Ramadhan, kitorang makan kat luar.

The first time we went for break fast was Kenny Rogers at IOI Mall. II chose Kenny Rogers coz I really like the quarter chicken and its side dishes. Yummy! It was quite late when we reached there, so we were served with free drink first before we got our meal.

The second time we went for break fast was Nandos at Sogo. It was raining super heavy and we couldn't go back home. So we decided to walk in to any resto and we opted for Nandos since hubby wanted to try the chicken, while I, ordered the chicken Kebab. (The only time I had Nandos was in Gold Coast...and I kind off hated it. Hahaha!) Guess what? Look at my lappy wallpaper :D It's been there for quite sometime you know! I mean...years! The only picture that can replace him is his own picture...with different style of pose lah, hahaha!

The third time we went for break fast was with Sekupang Travel Team (Chawana), without the rest of the team members. We chose Pizza San Fran at Wangsa Maju and this was the third time we went there. The reason being? It is cheap and tasty! At first, I thought of ordering lamb shank. Without looking at the price, I ordered for baked lamb, saute mushroom, and nachos. Tau tak brapa harga baked lamb tu??? RM55! While lamb shank is just RM12.90!

This coming weekend, we might be attending our annual Sista's Potluck...and I'm gonna bring bread pudding :)

Meet The Fixie Bikes

It has been 10 years since I rode my mountain bike. My dad bought me one, for me to cycle to office during my days in Serdang. It was 5 minutes ride from my apartment to my office. It was fun but the challenge was I need to bring it down via lift! So I didn't bother to ride it again...and I left it alone, rusty and dusty at washing area.

When I moved out from the house, again, I didn't bother to bring it along with me. (Sorry dad.) That was not the point. Now, Adib told me that she's going to have a healthy session with Fyzal at Putrajaya. They gonna ride their new bikes, a.k.a fixie bikes, that just newly bought 5 months after she bought her mountain bikes. Crazy rich huh?
A fixed-gear bicycle (or fixed-wheel bicycle, commonly known in the USA as a fixie) is a bicycle that has no freewheel, meaning it cannot coast — the pedals are always in motion when the bicycle is moving.

The sprocket is screwed directly onto a fixed hub. When the rear wheel turns, the pedals turn in the same direction.[1] This allows a cyclist to stop without using a brake, by resisting the rotation of the cranks, and also to ride in reverse.

Track cycling in a velodrome has always used fixed-gear track bikes, but fixed-gear bicycles are now again used on the road,[2] a trend generally seen as being led by bicycle messengers.[3]

Recently, fixed-gear bikes have emerged as part of the hipster trend due to their appeal as a "vintage" accessory.

So, she offered us to borrow their newly-old mountain bikes, to ride along with them. Hubby and I straight away agreed, since it has been too long we never exercise. (I bought one badminton racket that I only played once.) So, why not?

We then went to her house and picked up the other two bikes.

"O.M.G...how should we put these two bikes in the car? They (tires) are huge!" I said.

"We try first...one on the back seat, one in the boot..."

"How did they do it?! Waja bigger is it?"
I wondered.

"I guess so...we try first."

Guess what...we took almost an hour to put these two bikes in!!! Seriously we don't know how to arrange them in place, plus, we unable to remove the front tires coz these type of bikes have gears!!! Tension gile!!!
Looking up, its going to rain. I smsed Adib and told her, whatever it is, I WANT to ride this bike! Even if it's rain. Hahaha! And so we did ride :)
Meeting point.

Adib showing her muscle.

Fyzal showing his skill.

Me, trying fixie. Awesome bike!
Healthy is Love. Love is Healthy.
Till we ride again :)

P/S: How we managed to put back the bikes in the car? Well, we left it to the pros. Now, my two butts hurt!!! Ouch!!!
