ATV At Adventure Park, Kemensah, Kuala Lumpur

It's good to live in KL when I get the chance to play host for my family, whenever there were here. My brother and one of his son came last two days, for my brother wanted to try mountain-biking at KL with his friends. OMG, he owns detachable bike and expensive mountain bike, and this can be considered him as super biking-freak! (Well, my dad to, now...) 

My brother frequently rides around Perak and Penang, but most of the times, he rides with his friends, not in competition or what not. At times, he would camouflage to "ghost rider", the one they called someone who patiently waited at some check point, and suddenly join the ride. Hahaha! If and only if the marshal didn't caught them, I must say.

Well yesterday, while I was looking after his son, he went to Kg. Kemensah/Kemensah Heights to ride with his other 11 friends. Two of them were guides. So I thought, it would be fun if we can meet him, after going to Zoo Negara. Guess what? Zoo Negara was packed with people! No parking, and the queue was super long! And so, I had to cancel it off.

Since my brother told me that he rode somewhere behind Zoo Negara, we quickly thought that he might be at ATV Adventure Park. Located near the MRR2, this place actually quite easy to find. We just need to look for signage of ATV, Ikan Keli Salai, Cendawan Tiram, and Lembu Korban. Hahaha! It was quite deep further up but we were entertained by visitors who were picnicking and barbequing along the small river. This is what KL people can do. Hehe!

Hubby and I always wanted to try ATV but I always told him, two riders won't give the excitement like a group ride (yes, they have 36 units!). Since we plan to have this activity with my fellows #TravelholicAwesome, why don't we have a quick check-out, I told hubby. Hubby was looking pretty excited and quickly jumped off the car and posed in front of the entrance.

There was one small man-made steps for visitors to climb up, before we finally reached the main shack. Before us, we saw rows of little cute monsters, ATVs, in red and blue colors. There was one that differs, might be used by guide or some sort of demo, in camo design. Cute!

We were lucky enough to hear the whole session, since there were 7 visitors (I believe Singaporeans) came to try this activity. Good tips, guides, instructions, and whatever rules were told and explained to them. They were given a few rounds of test/demo, before they were released into the wild. Owh, don't worry, helmet and guide(s) will be provided for each group! But you MUST come in sport shoes, okay!

One guide then came to us. We took this chance to ask everything that we wanted to know, for our own good preparation. He then handed us the pamphlet of the Adventure Park, complete with packages details, prices and tracks. Each package varies according to the type, length, and time of each track. It's your call!

Package B - RM100.00

1 to 1 1/2 hours offroad track up to Waterfall. You get a chance to swim there!

Package C - RM150.00

1 1/2 to 2 hours offroad track up to Sofea Jane. Yes, the famous waterfall where Sofia Jane used to swim. And you can swim there too! Fefeeling Sofea Jane gitew...

Package D - RM200.00

2 to 2 1/2 hours offroad track uphill and downhill to Bukit Tabur/Dam Ride. You will be seeing the whole KL and Kelang Gate Dam, here.

Package E - RM300.00

3 to 4 hours offroad track with rough terrains, river trail, steep hills, and bumpy muddy to Bukit Tabur/Dam/Sungai Liza/Dataran Mas/Bukit Lalang. Well, I guess this is the best of all!

Besides these tempting packages, facilities such as surau, toilets with showers, swimming pool, and ample parking space, clearly offers a good venue for adventurous Family Day. Pak Ein's family day maybe? Hahaha! Pity my nieces and nephews coz clearly, they are all under 16 years of age.

We then walked off and headed back, leaving us with their attractive statement "A Guaranteed Unforgettable Experience". And I believe, I need to try it one day :)

Feel Like A Scientist At National Planetarium, Kuala Lumpur

Well, as I mentioned in my two previous posts, I would have not visited interesting places in KL, if it wasn't due to my nieces and nephews. This time around, I brought them to National Planetarium.

The blue dome stands handsomely next to the tower, with huge stairs welcoming the visitors. It is located on top of a hill of Lake Gardens, about 120,000 square feet in area. Around the area, they built a replica of Stonehenge, Jantar Mantar, and "Balai Cerap", where these places were part of astronomical observatory mediums during past. The tower is also a place for star-gazing where "ahli falak" do their work, to decide on Puasa and Hari Raya date.

Coincidentally, there was an eclipse watching event happening during the night but we didn't wait since my sister needed to rush back to hometown. The fun begins with 3D movie "Fly Me To The Moon" that was 100% suitable for kids. It was a fun journey of 3 cute flies to the moon where all viewers are laid on super comfy seats, with 3D spectacles, enjoying the movie right on the dome ceiling.

In the main hall, there were lots of exhibition of space-science related. Documentaries being aired, together with informative facts on space, astronauts, rockets, stars, universe, and what not. Gravity room is also one of the must entered room, if and only if, you are not dizzy with the ultra-violet lamp and motion sickness.

For me, it is a must place to visit, for your kids can have an idea on how the space look like, and they get to learn all the space-science related matters. Who knows, Malaysia can have another astronaut in the near future :)

Hey Birdie Birdie Birdie! Kuala Lumpur Bird Park

I was called to visit KL Bird Park the moment I saw "World Largest Free-Flight Walk-in Aviary". It happened that my sister and her family came to visit us, so niece and nephews really enjoyed bird watching.

Unlike them, hubby and I purchased the ticket way back in March, when we visited Orchid and Bonzai Exhibition @ Taman Tasik Perdana, where it was discounted to RM15 instead of RM25. With the size of the location, it was superbly worth the price. 

My niece took this opportunity to learn on how to use her DSLR, with the help of hubby, while I just watched and enjoyed those beautiful birds that freely flew and walked around us. Nonetheless, almost all small-sized birds were caged, with CCTV on, for the sake of their safety. Wow...

Each section was divided with wires according to the bird's nature. Frankly speaking, I didn't know the names of the birds, not until I read the info boards. And of all the names, I was tickled by the name of "Burung Hantu Carik Kafan". Hahaha! Like seriously, scary huh? *pfftt!* (Owl on the right side, wearing Magneto's helmet, it is. KAHKAHKAH!) I felt like having one! There are soooooooooooo cute!!!

There were bird shows but we didn't grab the chance, for it was already late. As per usual, parrots were the main actors in every bird show. One of the bird can really imitated what the visitor's said. We challenged the bird by saying few words (funny words) and guess what, it CANNOT repeat the word coz it didn't understand. Hahaha! Stupid human.

Half way, we saw beautiful waterfalls and more colorful birds. We stopped for quick lunch under the gazebo, where I "tapau" from home. But beware, birds are all over the places, mind their poops and do not feed them with your foods ya!

We were entertained by one arrogant peacock that spread its beautiful tail and make a circle turn and went away. Hahaha! Lawak gile, macam "Hoi, aku cantik kan? Kan?" Patu blah...

The fun continued when we reached the ostrich area, where one of the ostrich was stand-sleeping, putting its chin on the rail. Hahaha! Can sleep like that ke? MasyaAllah, why la these birds so funny?! Did you guys experienced all these?

We finally ended the visit and stopped at flamingo area, where I almost drop my jaw, when I saw a pair of HUGE pelicans! I was super amazed till I felt like crossing the gate and hug them. Hahaha! We once, shouted at the flamingos when they were all sleeping with one-legged stand. What a good balance they have.

Play Pilot At Royal Malaysian Air Force Museum, Kuala Lumpur

The only way for me to visit those interesting places in KL is when my sister and her family are in town. Else, it would be once in a blue moon for hubby and I, to explore the city of KL. So this time, we chose Royal Malaysian Air Force Museum a.k.a Muzium TUDM.

This airbase is the oldest base in the history of Malaysian aviation. It was handed over from British to RMAF on 1960 where it served as the country first International Airport before it moved to Subang in 1965.

It was raining when we decided to visit TUDM Museum. I had no idea that this place is open to public, until my good friend, Skin, brought her kids here. Nothing much to expect from this place, but for kids, it is a good place for them to experience the carrier, fighter jet, helicopter, and etc. And all of them are all phased-out aircraft, as per below list.

There were fun activity too, where kids can learn and know how rocket departs and how far it can go, just by using soda. Cool huh? The newly developed hangar also displays variety of aircraft. Though it is not more than 30, it is said that more and more aircraft are coming in.

For me, it is a also must place to visit, especially when you wish to "plant" the word "pilot" in your kid's growing medula oblongata :) hahaha!
