Meet The Virgorian

Happy birthday to my only brother, Joi.

I grew up and spent a lot of time with him. He's a year older than me and I have no other close person to play with, since the gap between me and my two sisters were like 3 to 5 years, and they were busy adoring Awie, Amy, Ella, Ruhil, and some other rock kapak groups. So, I was brought up to be quite tomboyish, wrestling, running, hiding, throwing, climbing along to ensure myself to be at par with my brother and his friends.

Well, he started to put a gap and kind of ignoring me when he went to secondary school. His friend always tease him, "sending his girlfriend to school" whenever he sent me off. He didn't even want to pick me up, and the bus stop just 50 meters away from my house! Hahaha! But later, all his friends started to call him bro-in-law lah after they saw "this" ugly duckling turned out to be not so ugly swan. Kahkahkah!

Since I went to college, in fact, until now, I seldom talk to my brother, but we both know that we love each other. He was my late mom's precious, though I am the youngest in the family. And he was, and still, like cats and dogs with my dad. When both of them lost something, especially tools and gadgets, there's no one to blame on...coz they are the only two guys in the family!

I have four Virgorians in my family. They would be, my dad, my late mom, my brother, and myself. The other two sisters are Aries and Capricorn. And amazingly, my brother and I, were born a day before our parents (don't look at the year la ha...) My brother's birthday is today, 25th Aug, while my dad's birthday, will be tomorrow, 26th Aug. My birthday is on 14th Sept, while my late mom's birthday is on 15th Sept (btw, my late mom passed away on my 18th birthday, when she was at the age of 43...sob sob...)

You know, when Allah took someone from you, He replaced it. One of my niece was born two years later, on the same date, that was 14th Sept. And Allah is GREAT, without a doubt, so He decided to bridge me with another Virgorian, that is my husband, who was born on 22nd Sept!

No rice for a day. So we cooked spaghetti for "berbuka" and "sahur". A bit sour coz I added to much tomato puree. But still, eatable la...

I was waiting hungrily before hubby finished his "kari ikan bawal". This round, I beg him not to add any extraordinaire things! Hahaha! Still putting "murungakai" fruits and he added tomato in it. OMG! It was superb! Gile sedap!

C) Setiap gambar MESTI kena pakai baju raya.

Note : Kalau takde salah satu syarat diatas ni, masih bleh teruskan, tapi tolak markah la.

10 CHALLENGES YANG PERLU DILANGSAIKAN!

Idea Biqque.
1)Blogger bergambar sebelah/dengan polis sambil makan kuih raya. Kalo polis tu tengah bertugas dan tak leh makan, korang je yang makan. Tapi kalo polis tu makan skali, bonus disitu.

2)Blogger buat huruf “RAYA” dengan tubuh badan. Boleh guna orang lain untuk tolong Blogger dan boleh combine gambar setiap huruf yang dibuat.

3)Blogger bergambar depan rumah kampung yang kosong sambil pegang buluh lemang. Kalo rumah kampung tu nampak spooky, lagi bagus.

4)Blogger bergambar tepi highway dan mesti nampak jalan highway tu serta kereta yang tengah bergerak. Kawasan R&R tidak dibenarkan sama sekali ye.

5)Blogger main papan gelongsor sambil makan ketupat nasik. Lagi besar papan gelongsor tu, lagi banyak markah korang dapat.

Idea Chawana.
6)Blogger menjadi nelayan yang tengah memancing/menjala mengunakan umpan kuih raya di tepi tasik/sungai/laut. Pepandai la korang, aku tatau!

7)Blogger menjadi SUPERHERO RAYA dengan memakai pakaian raya. Kena la nampakkan kan ciri-ciri superhero tu walaupun baju tu baju raya. Ikut creativity masing-masing.

8)Blogger mengayuh basikal sambil junjung sebalang kuih raya di atas kepala. Kaki tak leh pijak tanah ok!

9)Blogger bermain tanglung (lantern) di waktu malam di hadapan orang bakar lemang. Tanglung boleh buat sendiri, atau beli kat kedai apek mana-mana. Kedai sembahyang cina pun ada. Hahaha!

10)Blogger sedang makan juadah hari raya (lemang/ketupat/rendang/kuih raya) di atas pokok, sambil sebelah tangan pegang senduk nasi. Ha amik korang, gambar penutup!

Ni sample tahun lepas kalo korang nak kaji, susah ke tak nak buat challenges ni...bleh nyer lahhhhh!

Sistas Potluck

Every year, we (Sistas) will organize our yearly Sistas Potluck. But this year, Elly, Skin, Fara, and Enda didn't join us. Dib, the expecting mother, offered her house as the venue. (Next year, kita serang umah baru Skin ok?)

These were the foods for the night.

Dib made two super delicious chickens that can keep Kenny Rogers away from us. I mean, OMG, sedap nak mampos! The marinade was PERFECT!

Deb ordered two large Pizza. Answered to my hubby's long lost request. Hahaha! And Nanzo, Deb's hubby has created new drink, a mixture of orange Twister and strawberry Mirinda. Yummeh!

And I, ordered one large bread pudding from Kak Eran, as usual. Sedap! But too bad, I'm not a fan.

HA TU DIA! PHOTO CHALLENGE BALIK RAYA DATANG BALIKKKKKK!

TAPI SABAR YE, BUKAN HARI NI :D

Seperti tahun-tahun lepas, more or less, syarat-syarat dan cara contest ni masih sama. Previous post pun ada cite. For those yang baru nak kenal apa PHOTO CHALLENGE BALIK RAYA ni, allow me to brief you guys, the history.

Chawana and I sangat la suka buat benda yang bukan-bukan. So, masa balik kampung tahun 2009, dek kerana bosan raya kat Ipoh asik gi Jusco jer sampai tatau nak buat benda apa, kitorang terpikirkan satu contest, to challenge each other. She came out with 5 things, and so did I. In total, kitorang ada 10 challenges, to be completed. At the same time, kitorang kena kasi syarat-syarat lain, in order to make sure that both parties tak menipu la.

Benda nyer senang jer, AMIK GAMBAR. TAPI, gambar tu mesti ikut syarat-syarat yang telah diberikan la. Kalo suh gigit jagung bakar, kena la gigit jagung tu, bukan takat nganga je. Hahaha! Kalo kata blakang tu kena ada bukit, kena la bukit tu betul-betul kat blakang, bukan kat tepi. TAPI, at the same time, kena la BE CREATIVE. Ada benda yang bleh di-improvise-kan. Contoh, kalo disebut kereta je, kereta mainan pun bleh jadi! Hahaha!

So tahun 2009 tu, I menang, sebab I amik gambar pondan betul! Sedangkan Na, improvise kan pondan tu, menggunakan adik laki dia. So korang bleh agak la camne juri-juri ni need to crack their head in choosing the winner. Juri-juri plak datang dari Sekupang Team, sebab hadiah nyer di sponsor oleh kitorang DAN kitorang ni pun masuk jugak, untuk bagi tentangan yang hebat pada contestants lain. Haaaaa jaga-jaga! Tapi masa tu, hadiah-hadiah ni tak dibuat lagi, sebab hanya kitorang je yang main. So beli tiket flight masing-masing je la...hahaha!

The next year, 2010, more contestants joined in. Meriah tok sah cakap la. Ada yang sampai demam kena hujan betul! Padahal orang lain guna hujan buatan! Hahaha! Improvise! Improvise! Tapi jangan sampai kantoi plak sebab nampak fake! Ok? Pengadilan nyer sangat sengit la sebab semua orang kasi gambar best-best. Tuah di tangan Laney sebab gambar ayam dia sungguh la comel. Hahaha! Dan tuah dia jugak makin berkepuk-kepuk sebab dapat flight ticket to Yangon, Myanmar, siap satu lagi tiket extra untuk husband dia, ditaja khas oleh Chawana! Hamik ko! Malaysian Tourism Photo Contest pun kasi paper Kodak je tau! Kahkahkah! Disamping tu, ada gak sponsor-sponsor lain yang bermurah hati nak kasi hadiah untuk consolation and special entry. Tahun ni harap-harap, ada la lagi hehehe!

Untuk tahun 2011 ni, kena tunggu esok lusa, untuk tahu APAKAH 10 challenges yang korang kena buat. Nak hints??? NAK HINTS TAK???

Ni tiga syarat utama :
1) Setiap gambar mesti ada blogger.
2) Setiap gambar mesti kena pakai baju raya.
3) Setiap gambar mesti kena pegang kertas A4 yang bertulis "Photo Challenge Balik Raya 2011"

Ha, senang kan??? Dah sah-sah blog tu blog korang, minggu tu plak minggu raya, dan takat nak pegang kertas A4, APE LA SANGAT KANNNNNN NAK DIBANDINGKAN DENGAN BAKAL HADIAH YANG KOMPEM MENARIK NAK-NAK PLAK HADIAH TU BERUPA "TIKETTTTTT*" KANNNNNNN! Tiket plak macam-macam jenis tiketttttttt :D

Ayam Masak Merah & Sup Ayam

It's all about chicken :D

I bought homemade paste and the person who sold it to me, told me not to add water, instead, add tomato ketchup. I improvised her request by adding tomato puree and peas, and it ended up to be more delicious! But, it was quite thick la.

Whilst, I was having a bad experience with another course, where I put "sup bunjut" with "serbuk sup" at once. Yeah, I know, another fail experiment...for it should be either one. So, it still taste soup, but it didn't taste good. Dang!

Buka Puasa @ Kenny Rogers, Nando's, And Pizza San Francissco

We hardly went to Param (Pasar Ramadhan) coz most of the food tak sedap! Unless, Param at our hometown. Sumpah best! 3 days out of 17 days of Ramadhan, kitorang makan kat luar.

The first time we went for break fast was Kenny Rogers at IOI Mall. II chose Kenny Rogers coz I really like the quarter chicken and its side dishes. Yummy! It was quite late when we reached there, so we were served with free drink first before we got our meal.

The second time we went for break fast was Nandos at Sogo. It was raining super heavy and we couldn't go back home. So we decided to walk in to any resto and we opted for Nandos since hubby wanted to try the chicken, while I, ordered the chicken Kebab. (The only time I had Nandos was in Gold Coast...and I kind off hated it. Hahaha!) Guess what? Look at my lappy wallpaper :D It's been there for quite sometime you know! I mean...years! The only picture that can replace him is his own picture...with different style of pose lah, hahaha!

The third time we went for break fast was with Sekupang Travel Team (Chawana), without the rest of the team members. We chose Pizza San Fran at Wangsa Maju and this was the third time we went there. The reason being? It is cheap and tasty! At first, I thought of ordering lamb shank. Without looking at the price, I ordered for baked lamb, saute mushroom, and nachos. Tau tak brapa harga baked lamb tu??? RM55! While lamb shank is just RM12.90!

This coming weekend, we might be attending our annual Sista's Potluck...and I'm gonna bring bread pudding :)

Matta Fair August 2011

Unlike everyone, this is the second time I went to Matta Fair. (Don't laugh!) The reason being, we always travel on our own. Plus, too scared of being dissatisfied with the tour service, and even worst, being conned! Hahaha!

Anyhow, we were called to go this time, for we wanted to grab all info about New Zealand, and particularly Japan. We wanted to get as much info as we can, like map, guide, and tour itinerary. (Bijak, bijak.)
But before we entered the hall, we bumped into one expo that sell camera and its accessories. We saw people buying gadgets like crazy! RM30 for a fixed flash bouncer, murah meh? No, thanks.
At one corner, we saw women and men grabbing coats and jackets. We looked up and it stated Winter Time. We quickly joined in the crowd and tested few jackets. RM90 for a winter coat, THAT was cheap! I was quite contemplated with two jackets, where both, cost me a bomb. Afraid of the weather not going to be as cold as what we think off, I settled with RM199 maroon trench coat.
So we continued the day by entering the Matta Fair. Luckily, the queue wasn't that bad. At the lobby, Air Asia was showing off their premium seats, that I would never care to look at. (Dang!)
But I DO CARE to look at these fruits! Sabar je la...
In Hall 2, we saw these two creatures, that I believed, from Avatar movie. And they were selling what......ticket to Mars? Hahaha!
We walked to Hall 1 and started to look around. This hall has allocated those info counters that we wanted (no, planning) to go, like Europe and Turkey.
And....Mexico came into the picture. Hmm...maybe...Ok, I might be dreaming too far. So, we went to see Taiwan and HK booths. Puas hati?
South Korea? Been there, done that. Only call us when we are allowed to go to North Korea ya?
I tell you, we went crazy at Japan's booth, where we both, collected EVERY SINGLE pamphlets and brochures and maps, you name it, macam nak patah bahu! Hahaha! The Nihonji chick was so helpful though we hardly comprehended what she was saying.
Since we were too fascinated with the booth and the exhibitors, I forced hubby to stand next to this. Hehehe!
And the lost for that day? A pair of winter coat, lapar dan dahaga!
We DEFINITELY need to get the 7-day Japan Rail Pass by next Matta Fair!
