Pool Tournament

Lost by a black ball followed by a cue ball was such as stupid move in 8-Ball Pool Tournament. That was why I got second place last year.

Guess what is my rank this year? I was
third!

A new "lady" who just joined IBM less than a year, registered herself in this tournament, and defeated the last year champ! (If she defeated the former champion, you know la what happened to me kan........) And who else can defeat a lady? "Pengkid" lah!

Anyway, she was very nice to me la, we talked and laughed on the last year champion, who was known with her "psycho" attitude and face (she didn't make friends with others, and wasn't smiled through out the tournament at all!) She actually dissatisfied with that "pengkid" coz that "pengkid" didn't hit the ball to the cushion, furthermore, she "snook"ed the opponent. Hahahaha! (If the ball hit the cushion, she might have a chance to repeat game with another contestant, that would have made her a winner!) Well, everyone finally agreed with the result and proceed with the prize giving ceremony.
Similar to last year, all contestants are given RM10 meal vouchers. But unlike last year, we didn't get trophy this year. Instead, champion got CUE WITH BAG (danggggg....), while second and third just got Tony Romas RM50 and RM100 meal vouchers. Pfftt! (The prizes are getting worst!)

Hmm...I think (actually hubby thinks) I'm getting worst in Pool...blame it on less practice! (I played once in a year...would that be enough???)

Footnote :
"Pengkid is girl who trying too hard to act, talk, and dress like a guy."

2010 ATP WORLD TOUR

Roger Federer
VS
Rafael Nadal

ROGER FEDERER IS THE CHAMPION OF ALL CHAMPIONS! He claimed his 66th title last night! (local time).

He lost his No.1 to Rafa ealier but he joined another two greatest tennis player, Ivan Lendl and Pete Sampras, to have won this event five times! He closed this season with extra special, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, because of the year that Rafa had.

Anyway, I personally believe that Rafa CAN beat Federer's record since he still young. Well, he was the youngest man to win all four majors, and he still winning. So, why can't he, right? But guess what, Federer has NO plan to retire! Yesss!

Knowing both champs, the statement that they gave at the end of every game was honestly fair. You know, the Swiss praises the Spanish, the Spanish praises the Swiss back...things like that...hahaha! I just love them both!

Make-Up Makes Me Up

I'm a make-up person and I love to buy make-up regardless any brands at any cost. I have tonnes of unused makeups at home...its all because I used them once, then if the result dissatisfies me, I won't use it anymore. Why keep it? Well, I didn't throw them away coz I've spent an amount of money there, and obviously, I keep it to remind me for not buying the same item again and again.

I don't stick to any particular brands, but I am loyal to that product if it satisfies me to the max. All brands vary from as popular as M.A.C, as easy to get at healthcare store as L'oreal and Revlon, as individual name as Tia Amilia and R-Zac, to as unknown as China or Korean made.

I spend half an hour for make-up, just to go out leisurely, an hour for work, while approximately two hours if I have any occasion or event. This amount of time includes cleansing, anti-aging, whitening, moisturizing, and styling.

Well, I don't say that I really know how to apply all these, in fact, my sister was the one who taught me on most of the skin tips, but, I can consider myself as knowledgeable la...in some way of making me an inch beautiful than my original look.

Nandaemun Market

Where Autumn Doesn't End
~
We decided to go to Nandaemun Market instead of Dongdaemun Market.

Tips : Most of travelers will go to Dongdaemun Market as it is one of the most popular destination and located in special tourism zone. It has 2 sections, retail and wholesale.
Anyhow, we didn’t always follow the travel rules. We took train at Jonggak Station – Line 1 and changed at Seoul Station. We then stopped at Hoehyeon Station – Line 4 and walked about 10-15 minutes towards one open space. We seriously where to head as we were not prepared for this market.
“Sit first…take out the map…” hubby asked me to sit on one of the bench by the roadside.

“I think that way la…you see this…”
I pointed to the right and noticed one old couple with two black plastic bags sat next to us.

“Not sure…we can try…”
hubby replied and sat next to me.

We sat for about 10 minutes and suddenly, the old lady came to us and handed in 2 bananas! We looked at her, smiled, and said “…err…its ok…sankyu, sankyu…” rejected her gift.

She insisted and smiled…still stood in front of us and asked us to take those two bananas. She must have thought that we were lost in space, finding our way home, only had ‘serunding’ to survive, and now no more money…(in this furry jacket? Hahaha!) Both, old lady and old man were so nice, to give food to strangers. Kudos to the Korean old folks.

Anyway, we REALLY hope those two bananas didn’t come from the pig ceremony just now. Hahaha! We concentrated looking at the map while eating those bananas. 20% energy was added! Hehehe! We then walked 50 meters, and saw one big camera shop.

“WAHHHHHHH…CAMERA LA! FINALLY!”
Hubby shouted happily. Believe me, he was looking for camera shops since day one and he only found it on our last day in Seoul.
Well, Canon still open but Nikon not! Hik!AND thank god he found it on our final day! Or else, he would have spent all his money there!

Anyway, he bought two types of hood that were half cheaper than what M’sia could offer! Maybe because Korea is nearer to Japan. Don’t you guys think so?

We walked by the roadside and passed by few street vendors. Most of them selling shoes, leggings, winter attires, foods, and such. We didn’t know whether we should crossed the road or remained on this side.
“AYANG! AVANTE!!! HUIYOOOOO!!!” Again hubby shouted when he saw Hyundai Avante 2011 that just newly launched and haven’t come to M’sia. Dang! It was so stunning! Can’t wait to have one! (Got money meh?)
We walked further up and saw one ‘bibimbap’ restaurant. We once thought of trying this dish as it is made of rice, egg, and vegetable. Some has beef inside. We noticed that this resto served ‘bibimbap’ WITH beef. (Zzzzzzzzz…) We clearly had to pass it.
We finally reached Nandaemun Market Gate 6.
Tips : Nandaemun Market is the biggest traditional market in Korea selling children's clothing, men & women's clothing, daily miscellaneous goods, kitchenware and local and imported products. It has 8 gates that encircled the market. It is massive and packed, so note your gate clearly.
There were lots of products that being categorized, such as accessories, women’s clothing, kids’s clothing, imported goods, traditional foods, you name it. But walking in this enormous area made you confused with what you see and what you want.
I saw one vendor selling Korean t-shirts and asked, “How much?”

“You from where?”
He asked me. “Malaysia…” I answered and wondered. What’s got to do with where I came from?

“Murah…murah…”
he answered. Wah, he straight away spoke Malay. Haha! Only that word la. The rest he spoke simple English.

“4,000won.” RM12 each. But looking at the material, it wasn’t the same like what we bought in Insadong. Good material normally 8,000won and above. This one was thinner and wider. Cheap material. So, I skipped to buy for Nanzo and Deb.

We walked deeper in the alley and lost in directions. We tried to find our way out and bumped into two tourist guide in red windbreaker.
“How to go back to the subway?” We asked them.

“Oooo…you walk straight and turn left. Subway is on your left.”
Easy huh? Do we have this in Petaling Street?

We walked towards the given direction and saw the main gate of Nandaemun Market. We snapped few pictures, again, at the Canon shop, and took a train from Hoehyeon Station – Line 4 and changed at Dongdaemun Station. We then took a train and stopped at Jongno 5 (o) ga Station – Line 1 and headed to the locker, where we kept our bags.

“Ok…we had issue when we wanted to deposit our bags…now, how to get it open?” We looked at each other and laughed.

Again, we looked for the subway officers nearby and asked them to do it for us. The same thing happened, they also unsure which button to press and how it worked.

Finally,
“Ting” the locker automatically opened.

“Yeayyyyy!”
Everyone clapped. Hahahaha! IT WAS FUN YOU KNOW, exploring new thing with locals.

We quickly took out our bags and we had 2 hours to reach Incheon International Airport. First, we took the subway train at Jongno 5 (o) ga Station – Line 1, changed at Jongno 3 (sam) ga Station, then switch to Line 5 and straightttttttttttttttttttttttttt to Gimpo International Airport Station. It was a long way and thank god we had place to seat.
At Gimpo International Airport Station, we had to walk 2 level down to take a train to Incheon International Airport.
Tips : Ask subway officer if you don’t see any board or direction. Gimpo line is in purple, while Incheon line is in baby blue. During our time, they changed the Gimpo International Airport Station, one level down. Luckily, two officers waited there and directed all passengers to downstairs.

Train to Incheon International Airport was really fast, though it only has 5 stops. The longest stop took almost 30 minutes to be reached. Unexpectedly, I saw Wifi in this train! WOW! Can we have this in our LRT or Mono? Hahaha! See how advance huh people out there? Sigh…

We finally reached Incheon International Airport and checked in. Since there was no web-check-in, we had to queue as usual. I stopped at Lotte Duty Free shop for a while to get ciggies for Dibitz.Once boarded, we went straight to our seats and bought two dishes when the air crew started to sell in-flight foods.
About 5AM, we reached LCCT and walked straight to the end of the airport, to catch a bus. Hell no, the bus still not operated! It started at 7.25AM…so to kill time, we had our breakfast and ‘lepak’ at the waiting area.

Then I saw and heard this one auntie, who was in the same flight with us. She had a chat with one guy about her travel stories to Japan, China, and such. Wah, this ‘makcik’ also travelholic ke?
To add into excitement, she took out one black log book and showed to the guy. HUIYOOO! THIS AUNTIE HAS TRAVEL LOG BOOK! Come to think of it, if she knows how to use Blogger, she must have one blog about travel…isn’t it? Kalah I, Chawana, Lily! Hehehe!

We reached home at 9AM and both of us were surprised with one amazing scene…

We have autumn in Puncak Jalil!!! Awwwwww...

To end Seoul Trip post, I leave you guys with my total lost.

The end

Future Meets Past
~

Today was the final day in Seoul. So we planned to do some quick shopping before we went off to the airport. Since we won’t come back to the hotel, we straight away checked out and carried all bags along. We had better plan!

Few days using subway, we saw rental lockers at every end of the subway exits. So we test our luck to use one of them. We chose Jongno 5 (o) ga Station – Line 1’s locker since that was the most used station and we already familiarized with the surroundings.

We stiffed in front of the yellow-square-lockers. “How to use ar?” I asked.

“Read the instructions…we have to know whether we are using cash, T-money or card…” hubby looked at one A4 paper pasted on one of the locker while I was dying trying to find the button to press.

“It is not user friendly at all…what to press? And what the hell! They put the instruction in Korean?! Who’s going to use it? Locals or tourists??” We started to piss off as we had spend almost 15minutes standing there, trying to figure out how to use it.

“Press 1 to select…press 5 to key in the locker number…then press 18…” We chose no.18, coz it’s bigger, so we can put two backpacks in there.

“Cannot laaaaaaaaaa…” I complaint. More than 20 minutes has passed. We still can’t figure out how to use the locker! And we didn’t want to waste anymore longer! We’ve got to do some shopping! Hey!!!

“Let me find the subway officer…” I said to hubby.

Tips : Subway officers who look like policemen will always be walking around the subway compound. Get their help to help you…though I’m sure the chances are very thin, maybe 20% of understanding what you need.

“Sorry, how to use this?” I spoke simple English. As expected, they didn’t really get what I said but judging on the body language, I knew they knew that we were in the middle of trying to access the locker system.

“Haseyo hamsa hamida oppa omma hase oncho haneda?” Ok, I purposely made it, coz I didn’t understand what they were saying. There were three of them. One of them trying to read the instruction, while another one trying to press the button. Then the other one tried to correct the person who pressed the button, over and over.

(See, they completely lost…what do you guys expect?)

Anyway, to cut the story short, the FINALLY managed to open the locker for us. There was actually one step missing from the instruction! D’uhhh! Everyone was happy and clapping. We thanked them and they watched us depositing in the bags. The first 4 hours, we had to pay 3,000won=RM9 since we chose the medium sized locker.

Tips : Small locker will be 2,000won=RM6. Locker is charged for every 4 hours. Keep Don’t worry, if it exceeds 4 hours and you still not there to claim your bags, the locker won’t open by itself. You just need to let it there and pay the whole sum right after you come back to claim it.

We moved on and caught a train from this station to Jonggak Station – Line 1 and walked 10-15minutes to reach Insadong.
Tips : Besides Jonggak Station – Line 1, you can also stop at Seoul Station – Line 1.
“Here got many things from antiques, souvenir shops, galleries, and such…and it only opens on Sunday.” Hubby explained to me while sipping coffee at Dunkin Donuts.

Tips : Insadong Sunday Market opens as early as 10.00AM. No other days, no other times.

“Wah, got event la…some sort of ceremony…” I said when I saw few women in colorful Hanbok and men playing instruments.
We explored the street and saw one big souvenir shop named Insa, Korea. They sell many things and I tried to hit my luck to bargain, yes, it’s bargain-able. Hehe! We continued walking and saw more street vendors started to organize their selling items.
Tips : The best thing about this place is they are selling unique items. From art brushes, teapots, magnets, you name it. There are also peace-no-war-voters, holding “free hugs” card and feel free to hug them. Watch out your wallets ya! Who knows? Hehe!
We actually walked from end to end, just to cover the whole street. We stopped at one shop and started to bargain with the shop owner, who happened used to visit M’sia once. “M’sia? Hot…hot…” We laughed.

I bought 8 adult t-shirts and 1 child soccer jersey, and paid for 34,000won=RM102…and they weren’t all for me. See, how nice I am huh? The uncle was so damn happy as we gave him so much money that day.
I then saw maple leaves and started to snap few artistic pictures. Everyone who was passing by looked at me like I have never seen any maple leaves before. OF COURSE I NEVER SEEN ANY MAPLE LEAVES BEFOREEEEE! Hahaha!
“You go sit next to that uncle…so old skool you know…” hubby asked me to sit on one bench and quickly took my picture. Then I met the future, and took a snap with one metallic robot that looked like Bender in Futurama. It was fun walking down the street as more and more traditional street vendors did some experimentation on their products. There was one villager in white who kept on hammering rice, which later being mixed and covered with nuts. Looked yummy! Since it was rice and nut based, we tested a bit...HELL YES, IT WAS REALLY YUMMY!
Then we saw a board full of rare magnets and bought two for our collections. Not far from that place, more souvenir shops selling caps, t-shirts, postcards, traditional costumes, and etc. I bought 3 baseball caps for 25,000won=RM75! Expensive huh?! Need to claim that from my sister! We walked back towards the subway station and reached the event place that we saw earlier. This time more and more locals gathered around the stage. I managed to clutch one lady in Hanbok and got a picture with her. Hehe!
I wasn’t sure what the ceremony was for but we saw one big dead pinky pig with money on its body. Ewwww! We climbed on one stone-bench, stood up and watched the ceremony from far, tried to zoom and focus on the dead pig. Haha!“So, what’s next? We still have time…Nandaemun or Dongdaemun?” I asked.
